FINAL STYLING BOARD - DENIM

This is my final styling board for the trend Denim. I am pleased with the result of this board as it is fun and quirky in comparison with the other trend. The straw, wood and buttons give the whole work wear vibe, and also add texture. I am really pleased with the positioning of the model as she looks like she has attitude and edge. The main focus of the board is to highlight the jacket, focusing around the buttons, collar, and large pockets. I love the contrast between the 2 denims because they show off that double denim has become all the rage.

If I was to do the photoshoot again I would have also added props to this outfit, to show off what accessories could be included in this trend. I would have also added a wider variety of positioning perhaps making more use of the space and if I had more resources I would include a ladder to correspond with the workwear theme.

FINAL STYLING BOARD - UNISEX

These are my final styling boards from my photo shoot, that represent my chosen trend. The black and white theme works well to represent the unisex colour palette that it is mostly used with in this trend. My reasons for adding the textures to the mood board was to give it other imagery apart from just the photo shoot. I chose these textures because, they reflect the street and urban edge that the photo shoot shows.

The clothing used with in this trend is simple, but the oversized clothing, reflects the opposite genders traditional fashion. The only problem I found when I printed my final styling board was that a couple of the images looked slightly blurry, which I could put down to the quality of the printer.

If I was to do this shoot again I would have taken more care in the quality of my photos and camera settings. I would also add a few more accessories/props to the shoot to give the model more poses and features.

FITSPO SLOGANS

With the healthy life style becoming such an influence on society, it's no surprise that brands are coming up with quirky, unique slogans different to the cheesy ones were used to. We can expect to see these slogans on gym clothing, shoes and accessories. I love the monochrome theme of this trend, as a lot of gym clothes consist of bright neon colours and patterns.

Social Media is revolved around the whole 'fitspo' inspiration pages. A constant news feed of girls and boys exercising and cooking healthy foods. Were also seeing lots of healthy supermarkets and online stores opening, that show how important they have become for todays society.

THE NEVER ENDING COLLABS

Street wear has become a look that has developed a lot in recent years. I wouldn't specify street wear as trend, more like a specific style that people choose to wear. The designs reflect the lifestyle of these people, and how they choose to live. This look is based a lot round music, in particular the rap genre.

Brands such as, Adidas, Stone Island and Stussy are all typical shops that offer the clothing. A trend I have noticed with in this street wear industry is the fact that they are continuously collaborating with other brands and music artists. The close relation between music and street brands must mean this is the best marketing technique for them as they all seem to use it. Through these collaborations they manage to boost their prices up a lot higher than usual just because its got that extra name.

A new release by Adidas is their second collaboration with Palace. The clothing is designed to not only look good, but also remain practical sportswear perfect for its purpose. The collection is a new spin on Adidas Originals. Personally my favourite part of this collection is the quirky photography they've produced for the ad campaign.

PHOTOSHOOT OUTCOMES - DENIM

These are my final photographs for the 'Vintage Workwear Denim' trend. Out of the two shoots this is my favourite, as I think the outfit works so well, and portrays what I aimed to do. The jacket works  as the main focus of the outfit, which is why I positioned the model to work around the jacket. The 2 different denims go really nicely together, with the skinniness of the jeans and bagginess of the jacket creating a cool contrast. The beanie hat and the shoes add another colour to the all denim look, which breaks the outfit up. I think this look reflects the working class traditional clothing as well as adding a modern, vintage vibe.

PHOTOSHOOT OUTCOMES - UNISEX

These are the final photographs for my Unisex trend. I am pleased with the results and think the outfit reflects the trend perfectly. I wanted the model to act, casual, natural and laid-back. The way her feet are positioned draw attention to her shoes, which show off the only white feature of the outfit. The overall look is very urban and street, with a masculine silhouette. The clothing featuring in the shoot could easily be worn by men which meets the aims of the trend. The beanie hat helps to add positioning and dimension to the simplistic look.

FINAL TREND BOARD - UNISEX

This is my final trend board for the trend 'Unisex'. This trend is based around the fact the clothing is acceptable to be worn by both men and women. It's something that goes against the traditional beliefs that a women should show off their silhouette and men should wear smart, tailored suits. Instead were seeing men in dresses, and women in straight suits. For my trend and photoshoot I wanted it to reflect the fact women are dressing as men, rather than the opposite way round. I wanted to focus on clothing that does not show off the woman figure, and reflects what men would usually wear. The look revolves around casual tailoring i.e. baggy suit trousers and oversized jackets. Hair and make up in this trend is simple as of course it needs to reflect the unisex clothing. When it comes to interior the decor would either be neutral or black and white, acquiring to both genders taste.

My reasons for choosing this trend is because it has a deeper meaning behind just the clothing. I like the fact it shouts the "modern day", and represents how much traditions and views have changed over the years. Traditionally if you were wearing boys clothes you were recognised as a tom boy, and frankly the look was noticed for being fashionable in the slightest. However, today the style is original, quirky and recognised as being effortlessly chic. The trend is something obviously aimed at both trends that makes it different to others on the market. Aside from the deep meaning behind the trend, I also love the clothing. I am personally a lover of monochrome and this trend fits that fascination perfectly. As well as this, the clothing is also great for a day when your not feeling so small and want to cover up behind baggy clothing.

FINAL TREND BOARD - VINTAGE DENIM WORKWEAR

This is my final trend board for the trend 'Vintage Denim Workwear'. The aim of the trend is to reflect the history of the working class clothing, consisting of denim dungarees, jumpsuits and oversized jacket/jeans. I have taken inspiration from old images of the american working class men and women. The look also reminded me of a painters outfit, which is why I used the brush strokes for the colour palette and the ladder. If this trend was to develop into interior I would expect basic furniture with worn wood interior and flooring. The main colour palette in this trend is of course blue, grey, navy, white and occasionally khaki. Interesting details in this trend is large oversized pockets, patchwork denim and worn buttons. The beanie hat shows how the trend is quite street/urban, and a casual day to day look, perfect for Autumn/Winter.

My reasons for choosing this trend is because I love the idea that it has taken complete inspiration from the working class. Which goes against traditions, and makes the look cheap and affordable. I love the fact you can have as much fun with double denim as you like, making it such an effortlessly, quirky look. The trend is such a day to day look and perhaps something different to what you would usually see on the catwalk. This trend could potentially introduce Vintage stores to more people and boost the sales of the vintage market. I love when a style of clothing is reinvented in a completely different way, as back then the trend would of simply been worn for practical, work purposes but is now in fact going to be worn as a fashion staple and street look.

PHOTOSHOOT PREPARATION-VINTAGE DENIM WORKWEAR

CLOTHING
(OWN IMAGERY)

Of course all the clothing featuring in this trend are Denim. I wanted to keep the look simple, casual and quirky. By using double denim the outfit becomes unique, as many people are too scared to rock this look. The oversized jacket, with brown vintage buttons makes the outfit reflect the idea of old-school vintage workwear. The washed out mom jeans add a vintage aspect and makes a nice contrast between the 2 pieces. The black beanie hat also reflects vintage workwear as well as adding a modern edge.

HAIR & MAKE-UP

The hair and make-up will remain the same in both photo shoots, as I also want this look to appear natural and simple. As the outfit is very casual the hair and make up needs to reflect this style.

PHOTOSHOOT PREPARATION - UNISEX

CLOTHING

(OWN IMAGERY)

As preparation for my final photoshoot I created mood boards that included the clothing I will use for the photos. As made clear in the board, the main colour throughout the trend is BLACK. The clothing is oversized and light, laid-back material. The whole outfit together appears very street, and urban with a vibe that could work for both men and women. The classic bomber jacket and beanie hat gives a casual 90s vibe. The t-shirt adds a quirky twist to the generally plain, yet edgy look.

HAIR & MAKE UP
(INSPIRATION TAKEN FROM PINTEREST)

As the trend is Unisex, I want to keep the hair and make-up simplistic. A nude lip makes them natural and creates an everyday look. Eye make up will be minimal so that the face reflects the unisex clothing. The hair will be straight and a beanie hat will be worn to appear edgy and street.

DENIM - WGSN

Vintage Denim Workwear is my 2nd chosen trend for my final outcomes, so I have researched the silhouettes and colours used on the clothing. I love how it relates to past trends.  The key thing about Denim Workwear is the fact that it is seen on both men and women. Denim of course never leaves our stores, but it's exclusive styles like this that make it become a popular trend.

This trend sort of reflects the 1990s cool, urban style fashion. Consisting a lot of oversized jackets, baggy jeans, and mid-tone stonewash colours. The main aspect of this trend is the fact you can wear double denim, and still look great.

WHEN THE MUSIC STOPS

Piracy has destroyed the Music, Film and TV of today because no one is buying original sources anymore and instead using copies that are made illegally. This can potentially kill popular culture and change the future of music etc.

The fact that no ones paying for their music and seek for free sources, boosts the popularity of apps and downloads that supply this. Perhaps in the future, music will no longer be sold on CD's but instead just run off of applications. It's hard to limit the amount of illegal resources online for music and TV, as there is thousands of them across the internet.

There is a few apps that you do pay for, but are a lot cheaper than buying them in the shop or off of iTunes such as Spotify.

SUPER RICH DOUBLED THEIR WEALTH

"Today the wealthiest 1,000 people based in Britain are collectively worth £547bn, up from £258bn in 2009, an increase of 112%."

Since the recession the super rich have doubled their wealth, therefore showing that it definitely didn't affect them. This suggests that High-End brands still remain affordable for many people, which in theory would boost their sales rather than decreasing them. However, we all know that the recession affected a lot of middle class people, which decreased high street stores sales slightly.

British economy statistics have a massive influence on brands and companies. Therefore, can influence future trends, in terms of materials used, the quality of clothing and how much brands can charge for their clothing.

FILL THE SPACE WITH LIGHT

(own images)

In this weeks 'Sunday Times Style Magazine' I spotted some beautiful interior design. The Australian architect has designed his house to feature as much light and space as possible. Although it may not be practical for this country as we lack the sun, its still a beautiful house that adds a fresh new way to build new homes. The design would be great for a holiday home or if you live in a hot country. It makes it feel like summer all year round with lots of daylight filing your home.

ECCENTRIC UNISEX

An iconic designer that you can always count on to bring extreme, quirky designs is Vivienne Westwood. Her Gold Label AW 15/16 collection, represents unisex fashion but with her own personalised wacky style thrown in. The collection consists of a variety of girls in oversized blazers to men in mesh dresses. Westwood may be a designer that is over used etc. but she definitely knows what the future holds.

THE FUTURE OF WORK

With the help of Faith Popcorn it is clear to everyone how much technology is influencing the world and changing our lives. Something thats been brought to the horizon is robots, that do everything for us. Popcorn has predicted that in 10 years time, robots will have taken over a third of jobs. She has suggested that the typical adult will work for multiple companies, doing so at home and people will take holidays in virtual reality.
