This is my final trend board for the trend 'Unisex'. This trend is based around the fact the clothing is acceptable to be worn by both men and women. It's something that goes against the traditional beliefs that a women should show off their silhouette and men should wear smart, tailored suits. Instead were seeing men in dresses, and women in straight suits. For my trend and photoshoot I wanted it to reflect the fact women are dressing as men, rather than the opposite way round. I wanted to focus on clothing that does not show off the woman figure, and reflects what men would usually wear. The look revolves around casual tailoring i.e. baggy suit trousers and oversized jackets. Hair and make up in this trend is simple as of course it needs to reflect the unisex clothing. When it comes to interior the decor would either be neutral or black and white, acquiring to both genders taste.
My reasons for choosing this trend is because it has a deeper meaning behind just the clothing. I like the fact it shouts the "modern day", and represents how much traditions and views have changed over the years. Traditionally if you were wearing boys clothes you were recognised as a tom boy, and frankly the look was noticed for being fashionable in the slightest. However, today the style is original, quirky and recognised as being effortlessly chic. The trend is something obviously aimed at both trends that makes it different to others on the market. Aside from the deep meaning behind the trend, I also love the clothing. I am personally a lover of monochrome and this trend fits that fascination perfectly. As well as this, the clothing is also great for a day when your not feeling so small and want to cover up behind baggy clothing.
