UNISEX TAKES OVER SELFRIDGES

One of my chosen trends for my final outcomes is UNISEX. Therefore I have thoroughly researched into this future trend and found information that can support my reasons for choosing this style. Unisex clothing means that it is suitable to be worn by both men and women. Of course some stores have adapted the item slightly to suit the genders figure, but generally they will be built into a collection that both men and women can buy.

SELFRIDGES, LONDON

A massive fact to support this trend is that Selfridges announced new lines of gender neutral clothing and three floors of unisex apparel. As well as this the mannequins are also gender neutral, which is something that has not been seen before in such an influential British department store.

The space is very quirky and subtle. Its a display you would not expect from Selfridges, but is actually very effective. They wanted to move away from the idea that genders are wearing the opposites clothing, but in fact combine the 2 genders to make one subtle collection.

“Agender is trying to do something a bit subtler than ‘women in suits and men in dresses’”
